Alternative Life Studies - 3

Focused on portraiture instead of the body. Started with angular lines as construction, and then sketched some tone in on top.

Alternative Life Studies - 2

Second Life study using an alternate style. This figure is drawn more graphically, mapping out the tones of the shadows and muscles. Experimented with different strengths of line.

Alternative Life Studies - 1

Life study done with blue conté, and drawn over with purple ink. Experimenting with the form, mainly concentrating on the torso. Flowing the lines together with the rhythm of the body.

Printmaking #1

An acid plate printmaking piece after my dog in the snow.
This was an experiment in my art class, testing the darks of the ink.

A vague image capturing the essence of a dog.
Made in 2008.

Ceramics #4 - Front view

I am very happy with my dragon, and he was very fun to make.
It was incredibly hard keeping the head in balance with the neck.
(It fell more than a few times..)

Ceramics #4 - Finished

Finished my dragon bust.  Not so much a conceptual piece, but focused on the technical structure.
The dragon was made from a solid block of clay, and clay was added on loosely for scales and spikes.
The clay was then carved back for the scales, to add a raised but defined texture.
After the details were finished, the dragon was then cut in half, hollowed out, and reattached before it's first firing in the kiln.

The glaze is a copper oxide, with clear glaze added for the eyes and main horns.

Photography #8 - Object of our affection

Last in a series of photos depicting the oppression of today's woman.
Capturing the emotion in the model, the battered feelings of harassment.
